Torrential Rain, Flood Warnings and Droughts!

Only here in the UK can we have flood warnings alongside Droughts and hosepipe bans!

Even after a couple of weeks of rain that has resulted in some flooding in areas, some areas of the UK are still being warned about the water shortage.

Makes me wonder how much water is being lost in this country through leaks in the mains etc, would love to see some official figures of the amount of water wasted through these leaks.

Petrol Panic in UK!

The last week in the UK as seen panic over the idea of a possible petrol shortage. This panic has led to queueing at petrol station forecourts and stations running out of fuel, in one case it even led to a woman suffering serious burns after decanting fuel in her own kitchen.

Even though no strike action is yet confirmed, Britons do love to panic and create drama, it makes them feel like they have important stuff to do. Looking at it logically, if everyone was just sensible then the chances of running out of fuel would be lower than everyone stocking up on fuel "just in case".

With this coalition governments lack of leadership skills, they have done very little to dispel the panic. One MP even suggested storing fuel at our homes! Talk about the blind, leading the blind!

UK Petrol Prices

The price of fuel in the UK whether it be petrol or diesel is disgustingly high. I'm paying nearly £1.48p per litre, and it still seems to be going up!

Recently the government released their latest budget, in it they had the chance of delaying the planned 3p a litre rise later in the year, but they chose not to help the vast majority of families and people in this country who use their cars regular. Many of us cannot rely on public transport, often its unreliable or not in plentiful supply so have to rely on our own vehicles

The coalition government have decided to go ahead with the planned fuel duty rise later in the years. They tried to wash over the fact by going on and on about raising the tax threshold, but in reality what they were doing was giving with one hand and taking back with the other.

With a large percentage of fuel prices going to fuel duty, this government has the power to help the people who need the fuel but chose not to. I hope this year we see the return of blockades and protests all over their country, its the only way the David Cameron will have to confront the issue and do something about it.

George Washington Chicken Nugget fetches $8,100!

Yes, that title is correct, a chicken nugget resembling the former president of the US George Washington sold for over $8,000.

Why would anyone want to buy the nugget is beyond me, what are they going to do with it?

Talk about more money then sense, I just shook my head when I read about it. I wonder how many more celebrity resembling nuggets and food items will appear on auction sites now. I'm sure a charity would have benefited from the money more than this person needed an oddly shaped chicken nugget

There are some strange people in the world, this is the proof!

Another Stricken Cruise liner!

Only weeks after that terrible disaster with the sunken cruise liner the Costa Concordia, this week another ship in that fleet of Costa cruises caught fire and was stuck in the middle of the Indian Ocean. There were over 600 passengers on board the Costa Allegra who had to cope with no lights, air conditioning and only basic provisions to eat.

Who would now seriously want to take a cruise with this company? I dare say that these two incidents will have a knock on effect on the cruise industry as a whole, as many people will think twice before booking a cruise.

I never really liked the idea of a cruise, never appealed to me being restricted to a ship for hours on end. That idea would be even worse if I was stuck on the ship because there had been a fire on board.

Transgender Children!

Just watching a morning TV show when they started a debate about trans gender children. Apparently the medical professions now recognise this and diagnose it as well. I was very shocked at this as I really think that at 8 years old, a child has not developed as a person enough to be categorised. I really think that children can experiment and be curious but its just to young to say that they were born with the wrong body!

The parent involved in the debate then bought her son on stage who was dressed as a girl, I found it slightly disturbing if I'm honest. The child made what seemed to be a mother prepared speech about being happy etc, I couldn't help feeling pity towards this child and anger at his parents.

I cant believe that people feel that its right to parade their children like this and encourage them to act and dress like the opposite age. When these children get older I support them to make their own decisions and show them selves as an individual, but 8 years old is far to young. In my opinion any mother who encourages their child to follow the road of the opposite sex are severely letting that child down.

Newspapers and Hacking Allegations

Wow, its really dragging itself out isn't it, the enquiry into press intrusion and phone hacking has been ongoing for such a long time I have even forgot when it started!

All the enquiry seems to be about is passing the blame to someone else, one of the most overused phrases of the enquiry seems to be " not too the best of my knowledge"!

Its seems like this hacking was widespread and many celebrities were affected but lets face it, many of them wanted and needed the publicity. Some of these celebrities would be really upset if the media didn't chase them for stories, they love the publicity.

UK Winter Weather

It makes me laugh watching the TV regarding this cold wintry spell the weathers going through at the moment. We do like to panic and worry don't we! I have seen councils having to reassure people that they have plenty of salt for the roads and so on. Its only a short wintry spell, its hardly like we have had an artic winter! British people love to worry about things and secretly enjoy making contingency plans in case the worst happens, lets just get on with it and stop worrying about the what ifs!

Car Insurance Dodgers

I hate paying car insurance as much as anyone else but I pay it because I have to, I wouldn't think of driving my car without valid insurance. I have just been reading that us honest people, the ones who pay for insurance on our cars pay a higher premium to compensate for those who don't bother with insurance. That stinks doesn't it, just because others can't be bothered to insure their cars we have to pay.
